NO SLEEP TIL BROOKLYN, ONLY 168 HOURS IN A WEEK! TOO MUCH TV NOT ENOUGH TIME

June 15, 2010

Little did the Beastie Boys know how prophetic those words would be.

It’s World Cup Time, The NBA Finals with Celtics and Lakers (Christina Aguilera sang perhaps the best version of the National Anthem I’ve ever seen or had to listen too), Yankees are rocking Roy Halladay and the Phillies, Rick Steve’s is in Scotland (it doesn’t get better), Heroin comes to Long Island, WTF? on PBS of course.

This all made me think, how the hell do I get it all done? And run GCMP.tv. I think the little girl below is onto something and perhaps GCMP.tv will reach out in that manner – we’ll have a dozen networks your interested in – and instead of Tivo, DVR, or BYON (Build Your Own Network), our IPTV station will have to come with a hardware device that accesses your brain directly which allows one to assimilate simultaneously 12 channels and hours of content at once. Also – you can filter by brand what you want to allow into your skull.

It’s the ultimate SKULL well….. you know….

Well I think the first reality is that the idea of getting 8 hours of sleep is a thing of the past. Also – thank god for mobile video and the mobile phone so we can digest content while we’re on the bus or in the bathroom. And so, in the words of Kurt Vonnegut, it goes.

Now there are some who will sit down and actually (and in my estimation futilely), try and map out hours. Felix Unger I’m not. Also I think the increasing globalization and the work we do with partners around the globe just requires people to be accessible at hours they normally wouldn’t be. Not everyone lives in New York and Thanks Be To God for SKYPE.

Nevertheless – I just want to watch all this television without flipping around all these different channels. So we have DVR but even then, all that’s going to do is require one to get a bigger and bigger hard drive. So I’ve come to the conclusion – at least for those of you who are much younger (I’m 46), it comes down to choices.

Family and Media – Just don’t go together. Heck I got busted looking at two hot Russian babes out at the Russian Cultural Awareness Festival and now I have to take my wife to see Sex In The City 2 as a punishment!!!! And after that beautiful post (May 26th in case your interested). Now I have even LESS time.

So while you ponder this here are some tips I found on FastCompany.com

Lesson #1:Prepare your family for those killer 17-hour days.

Before tackling stretch goals, have a talk with your family. Tell them you’ve got a tough period of work coming up, why it’s important, and that you’ll have more time for them when it’s all over. Your spouse and children need to buy into your commitment. If they don’t, it will weigh on you — and you won’t achieve your goals.

Lesson #2: Work the hours that suit you best.

When deadlines hit, most people get here by 5 AM and leave around 10 PM My most productive work comes after seven in the evening. I work until one or two in the morning, head home and get some sleep, and return to the office around 9 AM I’m in the office for scheduled meetings, and I’ve got enough hours at the end of the day to make real progress on my most important work.

Lesson #3: When you reach the point of diminishing returns, recharge.

When fatigue kicks in and I realize I’m reading but not comprehending, I take a five-minute time-out. If I can’t solve a problem, I move on to a different task and come back to it later. Sometimes, I just have to go home and sleep on it. But I won’t let up — I still keep pushing myself.

Lesson #4: After completing a big project, take time to decompress.

The last one – the one about decompression – that never happens. But it’s nice to dream.

In the meantime – here’s the realty in picture and video. Here’s the Specials with TOO MUCH TOO YOUNG.

TOO MUCH GOOD TV FOR A CHANGE

TOO MUCH TO WATCH TOO LITTLE TIME

BUSTED! IF YOU DON’T HAVE SOMETHING NICE TO SAY….. TURN BAD PR INTO GOOD PR

June 14, 2010

Better to not say anything at all?

Hmmm….

Maybe not. Bad PR and Bad Press hurt no doubt. Just look at some of the recent cases; Tiger Woods, Lindsay Lohan, Sandra Bullock, Justin Bieber (oh wait not him – at least yet until some photo shows up and his Michael Phelps image comes to a screeching halt). Then again if you’re in the public eye, it comes with the territory. Then I was thinking about why it’s so important to do what we do. Not necessarily in the Satellite Media Tour business, but as part of an effective media strategy to have people blogging, not just every day, but effectively on your behalf.

So if you’re busted….. better get the word out. Remember Wag The Dog? Also The Smoking Man from X Files? Here’s one for you Mulder.

Courtesy AllMilitary.com

According to one website – and I agree, Having bad press in newspapers is a whole different ball game to removing bad press on the Internet.” Newspapers wind up in the trash by the afternoon. Bad PR or Bad Press online – good luck. Perhaps no company is better at it than Creative Response Concepts in Washington, D.C. (Greg Mueller’s shop). And they are going to have a mountain of work in the next few years with VISA being their number one client.

I still love those immortal words written by Keith Appell – “WHY IS MITCH McCONNELL SELLING OUT KENTUCKY?” And he’s a Republican!!!! So don’t think he doesn’t take his job seriously!

Now unless the content is libelous (look it up), most likely there’s too broad a playing field, freedom of speech and of course SATIRE angles that can get a web publisher off the hook. Look – the other night while flipping through the guide on my soon to be defunct cable box – on the ADULT Channel – SEINFELD – The porn. Obviously, no one’s suing. In fact there’s probably a nice royalty. I wonder who they got to play George?

Then there’s the other strategy of just find a hot chick and publicly make out with her preferably at an awards ceremony. Not only did it apparently work for Sandra Bullock but Scarlett Johansson took home a Tony right?

The best way though is to hire dedicated guys like GCMP.tv to bury the bad press by filling the Internet with positive content that you can control. Search engines love Facebook, and there are so many ways to syndicate your blogging that you can reach a lot of sites with a single post.

But it does take time to find the right guys. At GCMP.tv we’ve got you covered. Not just on the New York Broadcast PR, New York Media Relations, and Digital and Emerging Content Side – but we can find you a hot chick in a hurry!
Most customers don’t go based pages one however people research you or journalists digging for a story will go way past page one.

We can help advise, defend and fight to protect your name, brand company from unwanted bad and negative press online.

You can contact us confidentially to discuss any negative issues appearing thin the search engines.

MARKETING DOCTOR JOHN TANTILLO TO JOIN GCMP.TV ROSTER OF SHOWS?

June 11, 2010

New York Media Relations Powerhouse and Broadcast PR experts GCMP.tv brain met today with the Marketing Doctor John Tantillo to discuss a show about the latest trends in brands. The show reportedly would fit into its IPTV line up of shows. GCMP.tv is now in the process of testing several live and on-demand technologies and plans to offer 24/7 programming by Q2 of 2011.

It’s a natural fit. John doesn’t just tow the line like the rest of the sheep and brings a common sense perspective (like it or not – agree with it or not) to the world of branding. What particularly caught my attention was seeing an interview John did on Fox where he took, it seemed, an unpopular view regarding Tiger Woods’ brand value in the wake of the latter’s disastrous personal problems. Which is what I like about this guy after spending some time with him. He’s not only direct (we discussed Apple and Microsoft amongst other things – which we, I’m still not sure agreed on), but he’s very personable and you don’t have to guess on where he’s coming from. That’s what we call “New York Style.” It just saves everyone a lot of time. There’s a time for “Detente” and perhaps that’s why I’m not sure if he’s an Apple fan or not – but readers of this column know how I feel about being “burned” on The Cube, The iPhone and several Macs.

According to his website – John Tantillo, “The Marketing Doctor,” President of The Marketing Department Of America, and behavioral research psychologist, has worked in marketing industry for over twenty years. His vast breadth of experience and his cutting edge strategies provide effective and extremely successful counsel to all of his Clients.

We can’t reveal too much at this time but bringing an authority like John to our line up of shows would be a huge addition to the overall GCMP.tv IPTV strategy.

DEAN MILLS TAPPED TO HOST CELEBRITY REAL ESTATE SHOW ON GCMP.tv

June 11, 2010

Star Real Estate Broker Dean Mills Tapped to be Celebrity Host of GCMP.tv’s Reality Show NY HUNT. The premise of the show is sort of like Iron Chef meets NYC Real Estate. GCMP.tv is one of New York City’s premiere Media Relations and Broadcast PR firms. According to Brian McLane, director of new media at GCMP.tv (ME), GCMP is aggressively producing it’s own content. Recently CNN has adapted this content ownership strategy as well as was just posted in this article here.

Click For Content Ownership Story

Why is this important? Because it’s shooting and producing your own content means you don’t have to split the revenue shares. The deal is simple. We’ll spec on you, put GCMP’s formidable Manhattan based PR machine and media strategists to work in order to get traffic to the content which GCMP speculated on. In general – the shows will be in segments though there is a video on-demand play in effect here. And what location is more alluring than Manhattan? The show will also be cut up into short clips as little as 90 seconds for distribution in markets such as Pakistan or full shows as long as 25 minutes for viewing in Asia.

GCMP is affiliated with New York Mobile Marketing Agency, and mobile video specialists, iProgram.

Dean also has that “IT” factor. The guy looks like a million bucks and his historical knowledge is as extensive as his pitch is eloquent. It doesn’t always work – but that’s why it’s a show. If the Yankees won the series every year – would anyone watch. Well, I would, but…. I think you understand my point. There has to be some controversy and my inside sources tell me that this first episode is chock full of visuals, frank talk and interactivity. Sounds like a winner.

Dean is a principal at KVNY Real Estate in Manhattan. His company sells everything from Sky Scrapers to Islands. Camera Crew was spotting filming in Tribeca and Greenwich Village with a celebrity client – who wishes to remain nameless. ; )

WHY DO GIRLS MAKE OUT WITH EACHOTHER WHEN THEY’RE DRUNK?

June 6, 2010

Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, now Miley? Dads, don’t give your daughter a name that ends in y! But Why Do Drunk Girls Like To Pretend to Make out or Act Like Lesbians?

The infamous 2003 MTV Video Music Awards smooch between Madonna and Britney Spears was voted the most famous kiss of the decade. Is it too much of a stretch with the advent of IPTV that girl pop-stars will take it to the next level. Madonna will be in her 70’s but hey – don’t be surprised if she shows up at some web awards show doing a 69 with an … um….. up and comer? Need some street cred gangsta? Get a few bullets in ya… (remember that episode of the Sopranos but Bobby missed and shot the guy in the rapper in the ass?).

Now – here’s MILEY CYRUS. Check out this video is.

And don’t give me society pressures… It’s alcohol plain and simple and a bunch of guys who are usually in the vicinity who can’t wait to get home and turn on some porn. In this society it is deemed VERY SEXY AND HOT for two girls to make out. In fact, going back to ancient greece. And not just two babes either… Alexander the Great was known to have a male lover and he kicked ass all over the world.

I guess what bugs me is not two girls making out in public, but trying to be something you’re not just to get attention. And this usually happens when people are drunk. What’s with the Wonder Woman theme? Talk about a time warp.

Plain and simple, girls want the attention and guys love it when two hot chicks make out. Let me rephrase – pretty much any two chicks make out. Who are the handlers on this? It goes from bad to worse every year. Life is like the Simpsons for real. You can’t make this up. Who is the PR firm for Disney on this account. Broadcast PR remember? Media Relations remember? Who was sitting in the conference room when they thought this up????

LMAO.

Pam Anderson – You Started it. Then Paris Hilton, Then Kim Kardashian. So Miley – What are you waiting for? Justin Bieber – what about Adam Lambert? Guys – we’ll enlist iProgram and put in on phones everywhere – just keep the mobile video clips short, under a minute, so EVERYONE can join in the fun. We can do a text poll, all kinds of mobile marketing tricks so the marketing department at Disney can get their metrics. 18-45 year old males who love watching drunk girls making out….. hmmm…. what is that data good for? Let’s sell em VIAGRA?

Talk about Viral Video!

The only thing funnier than Janet Jackson’s – HAAAAAAA – “Wardrobe Malfunction….” was when Prince at the very next SuperBowl stroked a guitar that looked like an oversized penis behind a bedsheet! Right now I’m laughing so hard as I’m writing this – but it’s true. We’re not talking about Web TV – We’re talking broadcast.

Granted you don’t want to brand yourself for 12 year olds forever, but going from Nick to the Pole Dance????

GODZILLA EATS LAS VEGAS!!!

April 14, 2010

I went back to my room at around midnite and saw a girl sitting in the hallway with her head in her hands. Moments before in the lobby I saw a man standing anxiously over his wife or girlfriend as she worked the internet kiosk (yes out here they have a purpose) to transfer money. 5 minutes before that I saw some cops on bikes stop a pretty girl who’d obviously been on the stroll. 20 minutes before that I had to watch a mob of screaming drunk people bopping to Billy Idol’s Mony Mony and that was only because the slots don’t take coins anymore so you have to go get these cards to feed the machines. ATMS cost $5 to use, the internet is terrible and my iphone (if I think Brooklyn’s bad?), is unusable in the hotel.

What's happens in Vegas...

But the show so far is good – hopefully will lead to some solid mobile marketing, webcasting, content syndication and distribution gigs. Already have several tours of our production facilities booked at GCMP for next week. And everyone loves the name iProgram.tv.

I just thought of another good slogan for Las Vegas that really fits – take it for what it is. Love to hear some of yours.

MOBILE BROADBAND AND THE NEED FOR SPEED

March 16, 2010

We’re way behind. 93 million rural Americans, kids, low income Americans – it’s a new form of slavery – called digital exclusion. Broadband Service Providers will lie and lobby and divert, delay, deny, whatever to keep people stupid. Try to stop bills that include consumer service protections and maintain their unfair levels of competition. Why should we all have hi-speed access? I guess there are enough people that fall for it. If you just deny, delay, etc., the results will be either Orwellian or Simpsonian (as it Homer).

This is a great story – watch this video. ON why we need to lead the world in Mobile Broadband. But is it true???

Do They Really Want Us To Be Faster?

AT&T has great 3G coverage – not crappy coverage. Remember – it’s NOT A LIE… IF YOU BELIEVE IT.

Think about it though. If you’re faster – that’s bad for them. Notice how many calls you have to make and how long you have to hold due to “extended wait times?” Bank of America lends 3 billion dollars – I guess they’re our friend – America’s friend! Bank of America has only gotten in my way from day one. I can’t stand Bank of America. So the next time I’m on hold forever, or getting the run around I’ll try and remember those great words of wisdom from George Costanza.
